Maddison and Mackenzee spent the night with us Friday night. I awoke very early and thought it would be cool to surprise them and my mom with a tea party. It was a gorgeous morning for it. I baked sugar cookies and got the gazebo all set up. As soon as they opened their eyes, I told them what we were going to do. We got all dressed up and while I got the hot water ready, the girls made little jelly sandwiches in the shapes of hearts and flowers. We blew through a whole loaf of bread and three quarters of a jar of jelly.
They took a special invitation over to Grandma Great and we all met back on the gazebo. The girls brought their American Girl Bitty Babies, dressed just like them (minus the hats!). They also brought a basket of guests from Grandma Great's house.
We had a lot of fun and the girls found out they like making the tea and adding sugar (lots and lots like me!) more than they liked actually drinking the tea! They made about three cups each, trying to find a flavor they liked.
We will do it again, we all had a good time.
Making the little sandwiches.
We used heart cookie cutters to make the sandwiches.
The gazebo all ready for our tea party.
Here we are all dressed in our tea party best!
